About Me

Living with Type 1 Diabetes since the age of 14 has shaped who I am and the work I do. Type 1 Diabetes, an autoimmune condition is one of the most logistically, mathematically, and psychologically challenging illnesses. My struggles with blood sugar control, and the anxiety about potential long-term complications, inspired me to dig deeper into understanding this condition and how to manage it effectively.
This journey led me to study for three years at CNM London, where I qualified as a fully registered Nutritional Therapist. My foundational studies in biomedicine provided me with a comprehensive understanding of diabetes, its risk factors, complications, and effective ways to counteract these through nutrition and lifestyle.
Specialising in a condition that I live with gives me a unique perspective and connection with my clients. Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been managing diabetes for years, I am here to provide the support you need. I know the challenges –physical, emotional, and logistical – and work collaboratively to help you navigate them.
While Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes differ in origin, they share many of the same risks and complications, such as vascular damage and neuropathy. Recent research highlights the significant role of insulin resistance in these complications, even for Type 1 Diabetes. This understanding has expanded my focus towards Cardiometabolic Health, helping people address broader metabolic challenges that impact overall health and well-being.
Why Nutritional Therapy?
Nutritional Therapy focuses on creating balance within the body by looking at the interplay between food, lifestyle and health. The food and nutrients we consume are integral to the functioning of our bodies and significantly impact our health at every life stage. Learning and understanding about an individual’s health profile (shaped by genetics, diet, lifestyle choices and the types of stress and trauma they have experienced), I can develop a targeted health plan aimed at supporting both immediate health concerns and long-term wellbeing.
The bodies systems (digestive, nervous, endocrine, reproductive) are interconnected and symptoms viewed as signals, providing information, not viewed in isolation. This holistic perspective allows for a deeper understanding of what may be driving symptoms and impacting heath. By taking a proactive approach to your cardiometabolic health and working with me we will:
-
Reduce risk factors for diabetes and cardiovascular disease
-
Improve energy and mental clarity
-
Enhance sleep quality
-
Stabilise blood sugar levels
-
Support healthy ageing and resilience
